The Canadian Rockies will blow you away with unmatched scenery. Glacial lakes and tall, jagged peaks create one of the most pristine wilderness settings in North America. The skiing is equally dramatic with steep bowls and gullies, wide-open snowfields and delightful glades. Explore the seemingly endless terrain at Lake Louise, experience the wide-open bowls of Sunshine Village, or get a taste of local flavor of the steep and deep at Banff Mount Norquay. The towns of Banff and Lake Louise offer history and character with world-famous, castle-style hotels and more than 200 restaurants and bars.

Your Banff / Lake Louise Vacation

Banff is one of the best kept secrets of the Rocky Mountains. World renowned for its spectacularly beautiful location, this resort is set amid the towering Canadian Rockies and awesome Victoria Glacier, across the emerald waters of Lake Louise. Banff and Lake Louise have some of the most stunning skiing in North America: steep bowls and gullies, wide open snowfields and delightful glades.

Banff lodging options range from 5 star Fairmont hotel properties to quaint Main Street hotels. Summer is truly the busiest time in Banff so winter is a real bargain and never crowded making Banff an ideal ski vacation destination.

The area is comprised of 3 mountains, all located within 45 minutes of the Town of Banff. Ski Banff Norquay is the closest at just 10 minutes outside of town with 190 acres of skiing. Don’t let the size fool you, as this area offers a variety of long, groomed cruisers as well as super-steep mogul studded free falls! Sunshine Village, located about 30 minutes from town, is a bit larger at 3358 acres full of long cruisers full of natural snow!

As most skiing is above 7000 feet, the view are unforgettable, and did we mention no lift lines! Lake Louise, located 45 minutes from town is the largest at 4200 acres and Canada’s single largest ski resort. Lake Louise has it all from gentle perfectly groomed beginner runs to double black diamonds.

Banff - RimRock Hotel / Lake Louise Resort

Good
Rimrock Hotel:  excellent rate for quality of room.  Beautiful hotel and nice views but a little inconvenient to downtown of Banff - there is a free ROAM bus that comes by the hotel every 40 minutes so one needs to be mindful of the schedule and it's about a 10 minute bus ride to town.  For transport to the ski...

Banff Great/Don't fly Air Canada

Good
Banff is a great little village with plenty of apres ski activities.  Lake Louise is a 1st class ski resort.  Would have ski'ed Norquay and Sunshine if Air Canada had not lost our board and skis.  Do not fly air canada unless you enjoy rental equipment, leaving late, arriving late, and driving in the dark.  This was a short ski...

Excellent
We stayed at Banff and Lake Louise and skied both areas.  That's the way to go!  Each area is fabulous and unique.  Lake Louise has some of the best and most interesting runs I've ever been on.  Great for intermediate and advanced skiers.  Sunshine has some excellent terrain above tree line, great powder fields.  The...

This unique resort is the one and only  ski-in and ski-out property in the Banff area.  Located mid mountain on Sunshine Mountain this older property has been totally renovated.  The rooms are on the small side, but really nice with every amenity one would require.  This unique property is only accesible via the gondola or by...

Unique Ski Vacation Experience

Good
Banff is unlike any other resort you will visit, in that there is NO slopeside lodging. All lodging is located 5 to 40 minutes from the slopes depending upon which of the 3 areas you want to ski. That being said, the town of Banff has a wonderful charm to it. Downtown Banff is lined with wonderful restaurants and shopping. And since winter is...
